The Secret Behind Why “Water” is STILL Flooding the Game.

Born to the world on July 28th 2023, Tyla’s “Water” (which needs no introduction) quickly rose to #1 on a lot of charts, including New Zealand, top ten in Australia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Netherlands, South Africa, Sweden, and the United States - not just breaking color-lines in an unprecedented way, but utterly evaporating the racial membrane between the European world and the pop music of “The Global South”. Let alone African pop music. All making Tyla the the youngest ever South African and first South African Soloist to enter Billboard’s Top 100 in 55 years.

Whatever you may feel about this gorgeous record, know that it will probably forever and always be a landmark statement from the world of Amapiano / Afro-Beats to the rest of the world, that this genre had the potential to resonate with the world.

In recognition of that, we plan to further our analysis of Tyla’s masterpiece and update it as time goes on, as a time capsule of the phenomenon that is, “Water”.

Stay Tuned.
